“AEGEAN DREAMS” was made to be a transporting trip to the cool turquoise waters of the Mediterranean where the refreshing blues of the water are matched only by the sky above. Working in layers, I built up depth to the waves emulating an aerial shot of a drone flying high. The seafoam was the final layer and it simultaneously reaches and recedes for the shore leaving frothy webs of ocean spray that ebb away from the glistening sand beach. You can see through the surface of the water down below to the rippling darker blue hues of the sea’s deeper region in the top of the painting. That contrast makes the painting look like it is almost moving. The sands have soft dappled differentiation where the sunlight hits it spanning from white sands, to wet darker pockets, tempting you to dip your toes in and relax. At 3-feet wide and high it is an intoxicatingly immersive statement piece in a room.
